We’re rapidly becoming one of the Warwickshire and Coventry region’s biggest employers and we strongly believe in fairness and equal opportunities when it comes to our staff. All our employees earn above the living wage - we think that’s only right.
We believe all our employees should be well rewarded for working hard and given the opportunity to develop their career. We have clear development plans for all our staff and invest heavily in staff training to ensure that our employees have the opportunity to fulfil their true potential. Many of our staff have moved into different roles within the business, something we actively encourage for the right people.
Women in energy
We’re also proud supporters of the POWERful Women initiative which aims to encourage and promote more women across the UK’s energy sector. We’ve pledged to increase our proportion of female executives to 30% and the proportion of women in senior roles to 40% by 2020.
We agree with Baroness Verma, co-founder of POWERful Women and Minister for Energy and Climate Change, who said:
"The energy sector faces a range of challenges, and inclusion of more women in senior roles brings fresh perspectives, improves future decision making and enhances stakeholder trust. The companies who have made these commitments recognise that tackling diversity within the sector gives a competitive edge that can only strengthen the long term global role of the UK energy industry."

Gender pay gap
All companies with more than 250 employees are required to publish details of their gender pay gap, something that First Utility wholly supports. You can read about our gender pay gap here, along with steps we are taking to address it.
