Meter exchanges

I want to exchange my meter

You can request your meter exchange by calling us on 01926 320 700, or emailing us at customer.service@first-utility.com. Once we’ve received your request, our Metering team will be in touch with you within a few weeks. We’ll arrange an appointment with you, and depending on the availability of the engineers in your area for how quickly we can get this booked. If you haven’t joined us yet, but you want to exchange your meter, you can request this when you have switched to us.

I want to move my meter

If you’d like us to move your meter less than one metre, along the same wall, just get in touch and we can arrange this for you. If you’d like to move your meter any further than this, your local distributor may need to move their equipment before we can move your meter - get in touch with your local electricity distributor or your local gas distributor. When you’ve booked your appointment, call us on 01926 320 700 and we'll arrange to reconnect your meter free of charge.

Please note: there will be a cost for distributor’s and engineer’s time and the amount will be confirmed to you when you arrange the appointment with your distributor.

I want to exchange my prepayment meter to a standard meter

If you have a prepayment meter and wish to exchange this to a standard meter, there are few steps you’ll need to follow before we can arrange this:

  1. Make sure there’s no debt on your prepayment meter
  2. Call us on 01926 320 700 to request the meter exchange
  3. We’ll assess the situation and confirm whether we can exchange your meter.

I want to exchange my standard meter to a prepayment meter

If you prefer to topup your meter with a card, to control exactly how much energy is used, we can install a prepayment meter. To request your exchange to a prepayment meter just call us on 01926 320 700, selecting option one. We’ll discuss your options and work out the best solution for your energy needs.
