Warm Home Discount
What is the Warm Home Discount scheme?
The Warm Home Discount scheme is set up to help you with your energy bills during winter, should you need extra support. Energy companies work with the Government to provide this. Each year, applications open in September and, if you’re eligible, you should receive a rebate of £140 by 31 March. This will show up in the ‘credit’ section of your bill as ‘Warm Home Discount’. You’ll need to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the scheme:
Some people will automatically qualify for the Warm Home Discount and are in what is called the Core Group. If you fall into this group, you will receive a letter direct from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). These will be sent out in September. If you receive a letter, you do not need to contact us and your rebate will be automatically applied to your account by March 31 the following year. For more information about the Core Group, click here.
If you do not receive a letter from DWP, you may be eligible to apply for the Broader Group. When the scheme opens you can check your eligibility.
