COLIN CROOKS

COLIN CROOKS

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Colin became CEO of First Utility following the company’s acquisition by Shell. He joined Shell in 1992 as a Graduate Research Engineer, having completed a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Colin’s career with the company has taken him across the globe - Europe, Philippines, Singapore, and Brazil. He has extensive experience working across different cultures and has worked in Trading & Supply and Marketing businesses as well as in Finance and R&D. In his previous role as leader of Downstream Strategy, Colin was a valued member of the Downstream Leadership Team, as well as a key contributor to the Group Strategy team and Shell Board strategy agenda.

Ed’s goal is for customers to spend less on what they need and more on what they want. He's championed high customer service with low prices for more than a decade, at First Utility and previously as President of lastminute.com. His aim is to empower and engage customers using the latest technology to help save them money on their utilities. It’s because of this that Ed made it onto the 2015 Marketing Week Vision 100. When he’s not lobbying the government on behalf of consumers, he puts his energy into movie night with the family.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

With more than 20 years of IT and Telecoms experience, Judith is passionate about getting the most out of our technology and processes to make sure our people can deliver a great experience for our customers. An advocate for staff progression, Judith champions diversity and flexibility in the organisation and represents First Utility as part of the Powerful Women initiative aimed at promoting women in the energy sector. Judith joined First Utility in 2013 from mobile network operator Orange, which later became EE. As IT director, she led work to create EE's emerging IT strategy. Away from the office, she enjoys the rural life with her husband and three daughters.

As our technology guru, Bill lives and breathes technology and is passionate about delivering innovative ways to provide our customers with the insights they need to take control of their energy use. In 2015, Bill took the number 10 spot on the CIO 100, which recognises the leading CIOs in the UK who are modernising and driving business change in their organisations. He’s so passionate that you can still find him doing some coding when he’s not inspiring our team of technology wizards to come up with the latest way to engage and empower our customers.


PAUL ROBINSON

PAUL ROBINSON

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Paul joined First Utility in 2018 after working as CFO for Shell’s global retail B2B business. During his 15 years at Shell, Paul has held a variety of different finance roles in the UK and across the globe. Paul encourages innovation and is passionate about continuous improvement, optimisation and overall operational excellence. He is also highly enthusiastic about developing people and championing new skills for finance professionals, such as digitalisation, data analytics, agility and customer centricity. Outside of the office Paul likes to keep fit and hanging out with his family.


JOHN WRIGHTHOUSE

CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER

John’s career has stretched across retail, personal financial services, insurance and utilities. Before joining First Utility, he had a number of senior roles with Nationwide, all the way up to Group HR Director before he left. John is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and has a Master of Arts in Employment Law. John is passionate about raising the bar for excellence in employment. He helped the Government with the removal of the default retirement age and to promote equality in the workplace. He is a Trustee Director of the Nationwide Building Society Pension Fund and a Non-Executive director with the UK Charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind. John is passionate about his work with Guide Dogs and in what spare time he has he enjoys taking the family to various skiing, rugby, sailing and swimming events.
