What are the disadvantages of a prepayment meter?

With a prepayment meter if you don’t keep the meter charged sufficiently you’ll lose your gas or electricity supply until more credit is charged to the meter.  Prepayment charges may often be slightly higher than other payment methods due to the additional costs of this product which relate to metering and additional administration.
