Switching to first:utility is easy and you can start reaping the benefits of low cost electricity and gas, accurate bills and no more meter readings.

How do I switch to first:utility?

Check out the prices for your area. As soon you as are ready to join us simply register online by clicking the sign up button below. The registration process is simple and only takes a couple of minutes.

Once I’ve registered, what happens next?

It depends whether you are on the Smart tariff (cheap duel fuel with free smart meter - currently available in the East and West Midlands only) or on the iSave tariff (cheap duel fuel available in all other regions)

For Smart customers, the process is:

  • Once you have registered, it takes approximately 28 days to transfer your energy supply to first:utility
     
  • Once on board, we will transfer your electricity and gas supply immediately
     
  • Within 60 days of your supply start date we will ask you to choose your smart meter installation date. How quickly we install your smart meter will depend on the availability of appointments within your area
     
  • Once your smart meter is installed, you will receive accurate monthly bills from us, with no need for you to read your meter ever again! While waiting for your smart meter, you have the opportunity to submit a meter reading each month to achieve accurate bills

For iSave customers the process is:

  • Once you have registered, it takes approximately 28 days to transfer your energy supply to first:utility
     
  • In your first month of billing you will receive an email from us 5 days before the end of the month reminding you that it is time to submit your meter reading
     
  • The email will contain your estimated readings for electricity and gas and our charges
     
  • To make this figure accurate you can simply click on the link in the email
     
  • The link takes you to your first:utility online account where you can type in your meter readings for both your electriciity and gas meters

Do I need to contact my existing supplier?

No, we will do this for you, and ensure no loss of supply to your home during the transition period.

Which tariffs include a smart meter?

Only the Smart tariff includes a free smart meter. This tariff is currently only available to customers in the East and West Midlands regions. We will make this tariff available to other regions during 2010. Until then all customers based elsewhere in the UK can benefit from the same cheap duel rates and a host of other benefits, with our iSave tariff.
