After Big Six's big profits, UK's cheapest energy deal launched by First Utility

Mon, 01/03/2010

Leading independent energy company First Utility (www.first-utility.com) has today announced further price reductions to make its new iSaveV3 tariff  the cheapest energy deal everywhere in the UK based on average consumption*.  This news now makes First Utility the cheapest energy provider in the UK for both Standard and Online tariffs.

This means that an average household dual fuel energy bill with First Utility’s iSave tariff now costs £889, undercutting the next cheapest on-line tariff from British Gas to become the UK’s cheapest energy supplier everywhere in the country.

The news comes just days after First Utility became the cheapest Standard energy tariff, and amidst growing customer concern towards the Big Six energy companies after massive profits were announced last week by certain providers.

Customers on the new iSaveV3 tariff will be offered the option to get a free smart meter installed in the coming months as First Utility continues its roll-out of smart meters across UK households on a region-by-region basis. First Utility’s smart meters take automatic meter readings every 30 minutes, providing detailed graphs and consumption data which customers can view through an online portal. This gives people greater visibility and control, enabling them to better manage their energy consumption. Research has shown that smart meters can reduce energy usage by 10%.

Mark Daeche, CEO of First Utility said: “We’re aiming to send out a clear message with today’s announcement – that there is a real alternative to the Big Six incumbent energy companies. I would urge people to act with their feet and demonstrate to the companies that dominate the energy sector in the UK – that people want a better deal and better service.”
