Priority Services Register

 

First Utility has a duty of care to customers who may be vulnerable with regards to any aspect of  their energy supply. The energy industry classes a priority customer as a person who;

 

  • Is of a pensionable age

  • Has a disability

  • Is chronically sick

  • Has a hearing and/or visual impairment

 

Free services

 

If you fit within one of these categories you may be eligible for some of these free services from First Utility;

 

  • Password protection scheme

For your own personal safety and to make sure you know a caller is genuine, you can agree a unique password with us. Whenever a member of our team visits your home, they will give the password. This will protect you against bogus callers pretending to be from First Utility.

 

  • Bill nominee scheme

We can send your bills or a copy of your bills to a friend, relative or carer, so they can help you read and check them.

 

  • Services for visually or hearing impaired consumers

We can provide information, including meter readings and bills, in a format suitable for you, whether it is Braille, large print, audio tape, or via text phone or Typetalk. We will also help you make a complaint or an enquiry.

 

  • Advance notice if your electricity supply has to be interrupted

If you are likely to be seriously impacted by any interruption to your electricity or gas supply (e.g. you rely on electricity to power vital medical equipment in your home), we will provide your local electricity and / or gas distributor with your details. They will inform you of any planned interruptions to your supply ahead of this happening, so you can make any necessary arrangements. 

 

 

How to notify us that you qualify for these services

 

There are three ways that you can register for these free services, please choose the one that is easiest for you;

 

Online: you can notify us that you are a vulnerable customer when you sign up to our electricity and gas products via our online form. Simply click on the "Register" button below. This will take you to our online form where you will  be presented with a drop down menu. Here you can select the reason you need priority services. Once you become a customer, we will add you to the priority services register. Please contact us if you wish to take advantage of any of the free services.

 

Download  and complete the PDF form by clicking the "Download PDF" button below. Post the form back to us at the address below. Upon receiving your form, we will add you to the priority services register. Please contact us if you wish to take advantage of any of the free services.

 

Request a form to sent to you in the post by clicking on the 'Post me a form' button. You need to complete the  form and post it back to us at the address below. Upon receiving your form, we will add you to the priority services register. Please contact us if you wish to take advantage of any of the free services.
