Gas dial meter
Dial meters are tricky to read because each dial turns in opposite directions. The dial furthest to the left turns clockwise, the one to the right of that turns anti-clockwise and so on. Don't include the red dial furthest to the right.
To read a gas dial meter, write down the readings from left to right from the bottom row of dials only and including any leading zeros. Always write down the number that the pointer has just passed, this is not always the nearest number to the pointer. If the pointer is anywhere between, say, 1 and 2 then you need to write down the 1.
If the pointer is directly over a number (in this example 4) and the next dial (to the right) is between 0 and 1, write down 4 (see diagram below).

However if the pointer is directly over the 4 and the next dial (to the right) is between 9 and 0, you should write down 3 (see diagram below).

In the example below the meter reading you would need to provide is 1243.
