Renewing or ending your contract
If your current contract is coming to an end please contact us by calling 0845 215 1935 to discuss renewing the contract, ensuring you are on the most competitive tariff for your business.
If you think you want to end your business contract with First Utility we ask that you give our accounts team a quick call to see if we can improve our service to you and save you money. We may be able to switch you to an alternative tariff that better suits your business requirements.
If, at the time of your electricity renewal, you still wish to leave, then you can terminate your contract with 30 days notice, in accordance with our business terms and conditions.
- Can I still take a reading from my smart meter?
Yes, you can still take a manual reading from your smart meter. Refer to the How to read your meter guide for more information. However, one of the benefits of having a smart meter installed is that you do not have to take any manual reads. The meter regularly communicates with First Utility and the data is collected so that we can provide you with accurate bills.
- How do I save money on my business energy bills by having a smart meter installed?
Once your smart meter is installed your electricity usage data will be available through our secure online portal and you will receive accurate monthly bills based on actual use, preventing any over-charging or costly reconciliation.
You can also utilise the online portal to review your energy use across the day. You will be able to identify where energy is wasted and how you can change your behaviour to reduce this waste, eg ensuring your staff turn their computers off at night. Comparisons day to day, week to week and month to month will show you how changes that you have made have reduced your usage and saved you monthly. Your monthly bill will also highlight reductions in energy consumption.
Once your smart meter has been installed for a 12 month period we can help you to identify areas where you would benefit from a change in tariff. We offer single-rate, two-rate or three-rate tariffs to businesses. This means you can benefit from having up to three different rates to suit your usage requirements. A change to a different tariff can save 10% of your annual energy bill.
